West Lothian handball team qualify for European competition

Livingston Handball have qualified for European competition for the second year in a row following a successful season that saw them crowned Scottish Cup winners and finish third in the British play-offs.

Livi made the trip south to Oldham for the British play-offs alongside Glasgow - who pipped them to the Scottish league title - and English sides London Great Dane and London Olympia.

Despite a brilliant start in their semi-final, which saw them lead 9-4 inside the opening 15 minutes, Livingston would be edged out by 27-24 by Great Dane with Glasgow’s 28-24 loss to Olympia setting up an all-English final eventually won by Great Dane.

The two Scottish sides met in the third/fourth place play-off and it was a repeat of the cup final earlier in the month with Livingston prevailing, by a score of 30-23.

Qualifying for the British play-offs ensures that Livingston will be playing in the 2019/20 European Handball Federation Challenge Cup.
