West Lothian footballer Scott Banks named in Scotland under-21 squad for friendly double-header

Linlithgow footballer Scott Banks has received a first call-up to the Scotland under-21 squad.

The 19-year-old midfielder has under-19 caps to his name but has been handed a first-ever nod for Scot Gemmill’s under-21 side as they prepare for two friendlies against Northern Ireland in Dumbarton next month.

The former Linlithgow Rose youth player began his professional career at Dundee United before earning a move to the English Premiership giants Crystal Palace in January 2020, signing a three-year deal.

He spent the final months of last season on loan at Championship side Dunfermline Athletic, where he made 13 appearances.
