West Lothian footballer Scott Banks and Livingston midfielder Ben Williamson earn Scotland under-21 call

Linlithgow footballer Scott Banks and Livingston loanee Ben Williamson have been named in the Scotland under-21 squad for their upcoming Euro 2023 qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Belgium.

The midfielders were amongst a 23-man squad for the double-header. The Scots take on Kazakhstan at on November 12 and Belgium four days later. Both games are set to be played at Tannadice Park in Dundee.

That's a stadium former Linlithgow Rose Boys Club member Banks knows well, having spent seven years rising through the youth ranks with Dundee United prior to a move to English Premier League club Crystal Palace in January last year.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has made the matchday squad for the Eagles several times this term but has been limited to just two appearances for the club's under-21 side in the Football League Trophy.

Williamson, who is on a season-long loan spell with Livi from Rangers, has also been named in Scot Gemmill's squad. The 20-year-old was sent-off in the Lions' home clash with Dundee United yesterday and has struggled to hold down a first-team place in West Lothian.

Having enjoyed a spell on loan at Arbroath last term, the Gers youngster has yet to complete a full 90 minutes in his seven appearances for the Lions this season.
