Broxburn footballer Liam Henderson came out on top in the first ever Serie A battle between two Scots.
Henderson’s Empoli climbed into seventh place in the table thanks to a 4-2 victory over former Hearts defender Aaron Hickey’s Bologna.
Both players started the contest, but Hickey was subbed at the half-time. Henderson, who has started the last three games for Empoli, made way after 71 minutes.
Henderson, who started his footballing career at Broxburn United before joining Celtic, became the first Scot in 32 years to feature in the Italian top flight when he played for Hellas Verona two seasons ago and last year helped guide Lecce into the top flight - before electing to sign for Empoli in the summer.
The ex-Hibs man made the move to Italy three-and-a-half years ago, joining Serie B side Bari and has since racked up over 100 appearances across the top two divisions along with two promotions from the second tier.
