West Lothian Foodbank appeal to the public for their help feeding the most marginalised in the community this Christmas

West Lothian Foodbank are asking the public to donate to their Christmas appeal.

For the second year running the local food bank will be operating a reverse advent calendar challenge.

The food bank want to ensure that nobody in the area goes without food this Christmas.

Residents in the county and beyond are therefore being asked to donate 24 items to make up a hamper to be given out to marginalised people in the community.

Their advent challenge has already started but it easy for people to get involved and catch up.

For 24 days, from Friday November 1, they are asking supporters to donate an item daily from the list provided and place it in a gift wrapped cardboard box.

Items sought include: tinned fruit, stuffing mix, tinned ham or turkey, gravy granules, trifle-kit and crackers or oatcakes.

Boxes do not have to contain the full list and the food bank say they appreciate any help people are able to offer.

Once ready the boxes can be sent to their warehouse at 5 Heron Square, Deans, EH54 8QY or dropped off in person Monday to Friday from 9:30am - 4:30pm.

Alternatively, the food bank is opening on Saturday November 28 and Saturday December 5, from 10am-4pm.
