West Lothian firefighters race to tackle huge blaze at local golf club overnight

A large fire at a West Lothian golf club saw local residents urged to keep their windows closed as firefighters raced to tackle to blaze.

Firefighters have been battling the "well-developed" blaze overnight at Uphall Golf Club in West Lothian after first receiving reports shortly after 1:30am.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that 10 appliances had been sent to tackle the blaze there.

He said: "We were alerted at 1.35am on Saturday February 6 to reports of a building fire in Uphall, West Lothian.

"Operations control mobilised 10 fire appliances to the scene at Uphall Golf Club, where firefighters were met by a well-developed fire.

"Crews currently remain on the scene working to extinguish the fire. There are no reported casualties."

It is understood crews remain on scene this morning.

Asking members to stay away, a spokesperson for Uphall Golf Club urged members to stay away on social media.

They said: "Members please stay away from the area - we will update you as soon as we know more.

"Most important thing is everyone needs to be safe."
