West Lothian fire crews race to tackle early morning blaze

Fire crews raced to a blaze at a four-in-a-block property in Whitburn this morning.

The fire took hold at Gareloch Way in Whitburn at around 6.20am and firefighters and police officers remain at the scene.

Four appliances attended to bring the blaze under control and one person was taken to hospital as a precaution.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 6.20am on Monday, March 1 to reports of a fire within a house on Gareloch Way in Whitburn, West Lothian.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and firefighters extinguished the flames.

“There were no reported casualties.

“Crews currently remain in attendance as they work to make the area safe.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “We were made aware of a fire at a property in Whitburn around 6.40am on Monday, 1 March.

“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire. One person has been taken to hospital as a precuation.

“Officers provided assistance at the scene.”
