West Lothian Festival of Running goes virtual

West Lothian Run’s biggest event of the year is still going ahead - but with a difference.

The charity’s annual Festival of Running is usually held in Bathgate in August but the Covid-19 pandemic has put paid to the normal plans.

However, they are still hoping to raise funds for charity with a West Lothian Virtual Festival of Running.

Entries are now open for a kids kilometre race, plus 2k, 7k or half marathon options and can be completed however participants wish throughout the month of August.

Whether it’s a run around your local park, or on your treadmill at home, you can take part in the festival however you wish.

Organiser Paul Brown said: “The entry fee is £8 for all distances and all profits will be donated equally between The School Bank West Lothian and West Lothian Foodbank.

“So not only will you be improving your mind and body, but you will be raising much needed funds for two fantastic local charities.”

The organisation will send out the individual runner’s number as well as a finisher’s medal.

Entries will remain open until the end of August and anyone wishing to take part can sign up and complete the run at any point until that time.

To sign up, visit www.westlothianrun.org and payment can be made via PayPal at http://paypal.me/virtualfestivalofrun.

Alternatively, West Lothian Run can send participants their charity bank account details.

Entry for the Virtual Festival of Running is only confirmed once payment has been received.
