West Lothian family have been making PPE for frontline workers during lockdown

A caring West Lothian family have been working together during the lockdown to make vital PPE equipment for hero frontline workers.

Scott Bowden, along with wife Isla and children Logan (6) and Poppy (9), have so far donated over 800 face visors and other essential items to workers at St John’s Hospital.

IT worker Scott creates the PPE equipment with his 3D printer and his wife and children help with packing and distribution.

The family, who live at Wester Inch, say they are just happy to do their bit to support key workers.

Scott told the Courier: “We have been making face visors and ear protectors for paper masks to stop them cutting into people’s ears.

“We had started out funding them out of our own pocket but when we realised this was all going to be going on for some time we couldn’t continue doing that so set up a Crowdfunding page.

“We never thought we’d even get £500 from that but actually reached £1830.

“We’ve given St John’s about 400 masks and they told us they have enough PPE, which is great news.

“We’re continuing to make the equipment for frontline workers and any money left from the Crowdfunding page will go NHS charities.

Scott said he and his family felt they wanted to help frontline workers and came up with the idea after speaking to friends who work at St John’s.

He continued: “We can print out three at a time, it takes about an hour and 10 minutes to print each item.

“We just wanted to do something to help people.”
