West Lothian driver caught flying down road at nearly twice the speed limit

A driver in West Lothian was caught out by police after flying through a local community at nearly twice the speed limit.

Officers in the area shared an image of their speed recording this week, after the individual was caught out in Whitburn on Wednesday (August 3.)

Issuing a warning on social media, police stated that the driver had been recorded travelling at 73mph in a 40mph limit, and was quickly stopped by road officers.

The individual was then reported to the COPFS, with a statement from police reading:

"#LivingstonRP carried out a speed check in the Whitburn area. Highest speed detected was 73mph in a 40mph limit. Driver reported to @COPFS."

In addition, a second driver was also caught out after they provided a positive reading for drugs. Police added:

"A further driver was arrested for providing a positive @DrugWipeUK for Cocaine.

"Blood specimen obtained for analysis."
