West Lothian driver arrested for performing doughnuts in Asda car park

A West Lothian driver has been charged with a serious road offence after police discovered him performing doughnuts in his vehicle at a supermarket car park while five times over the drink drive limit.

Road policing officers issued more than a dozen warnings to motorists and slapped five with fixed penalty notices as part of a clampdown on anti-social behaviour during a weekend operation in the region.

Three drivers were also reported to the court, while a motorcyclist was slapped with a prohibition order following complaints from locals in the Howden Park area over dangerous road usage, particularly in the evening.

Residents had previously raised serious concerns about 'out of control driving' and 'reckless behaviour' over recent weeks, with officers launching an overnight exercise to find those responsible.

But they were left stunned when they seized on the man screeching his tyres in a circular manoeuvre in the car park of the local ASDA in nearby Almondvale, later finding him to be well over the alcohol limit for safe driving.

He has since been charged with a road offence.

A total of 22 warnings or charges were handed out during the 24-hour operation across Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1, including 13 for a variety of "driving infringements".
