West Lothian DJ celebrates bagging record deal

A West Lothian DJ is celebrating after being offered a record deal on the very first song he produced.

Chrissy Meechan has been signed to Deevu Records, who snapped him up within one day of him sending his track to them.

The song - ‘Letting Me Go’ - also features his pal Molly Morgan.

And Chrissy, from Livingston, was always destined for great things.

In 2018, he came third in a national DJ competition held by WKD and Mixcloud.

And before that he was a resident DJ at the world famous Plus Club in Laganas, Zante.

He also played Europe’s biggest boat party, VVIP.

He was also breakfast presenter at Black Diamond FM in Midlothian and played the final weekend of TRNSMT 2018 at Cocktail Cocktail.

Chrissy first got behind the decks in 2012 with Coasters Discotheques and put on his own nights at the Harvester in Knightsridge.

Since then he has supported a number of DJs throughout the years including The Chainsmokers, Sigala, Radio 1’s Danny Howard and played in front of over 4000 people at I AM Hardwell at The Royal Highland Centre in 2014.

Chrissy, a former resident at Livingston EQHQ nightclub, said he decided to take up producing due to the closure of pubs and clubs due to Covid-19 restrictions.

He said he was delighted that his work has paid off.

Chrissy added: “I took up producing due to no work as the clubs are closed so I’ve been putting all my focus and effort into that over the last three months or so.

“I’ve been signed by a fairly big label, Deevu Records.

“They got back to me within one day of actually sending the song to them.

“It’s a dream come true to have made a song that’s actually good enough to be signed by a record label and I hope it opens many doors.

“I’m going full steam ahead with this opportunity.”

The track will be released on November 20 and is available to buy from itunes and to stream on Spotify.
