William Borland’s efforts to get back on the PDC Tour will get underway today.
The 26-year-old from East Calder burst onto the national darts scene just over 12 months ago with a sensational nine-darter in the deciding leg of his World Championship debut match.
But he has struggled since and that ultimately resulted in him losing an automatic place on the PDC Tour.
But Borland, who sits 71st in the world rankings, can earn his place for 2023 and 2024 if he progresses through Qualifying School.
More than 850 players are competing at the events, held simultaneously in Milton Keynes and Kalkar in Germany, with a total of 27 PDC Tour cards being handed out.
He takes on James Hurrell in his first round clash.
