West Lothian cyclist will travel over 2000 miles to raise money for charity

An athlete is cycling the distance of the Tour De France around West Lothian in aid of a local charity.

North Coast 500 Record Holder Josh Quigley decided to do something for a good cause when he heard that the Scottish Government were placing the county into Tier Four.

The super fit athlete is attempting to cycle the same amount of miles as the Tour De France, over 21 stages all within the boundaries of West Lothian, in aid of the River Kids charity.

Over three weeks, from November 21, Josh will be cycling 21 daily stages and will take in over 2000 miles in total during the challenge.

Josh said: “I had this crazy idea when it was announced West Lothian was going into Level 4.

“Quickly realising I would only be able to cycle within the relatively small area of West Lothian, I thought this was an idea to keep my training interesting over winter whilst doing something fun which would aim to bring a bit of joy and happiness to people during these tough times and hopefully raise some money for a local charity”

River Kids support disadvantaged children and their respective families in West Lothian and the wider community.
