West Lothian couple celebrate diamond wedding anniversary

Linlithgow couple Ed and Beth Morton are a shining example after celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.

Ed met Beth when he was an apprentice joiner and she was working in the local Co-op. They met in the papershop and he eventually plucked up the courage to ask her out.

They were married in Carriden Parish Church in Bo’ness on April 30, 1959. They have two sons, Alan and Colin, and one daughter, Kelly and several grandchildren.

The couple are both now retired, Ed having worked in the construction industry all his life and eventually owning his own construction business. Beth worked at Readymix concrete for a while and was also a full-time mum for many years. Ed was also Provost of the Deacon’s Court from 1997 to 2000 and has lived nearly all his life in Linlithgow.
