West Lothian Council urge residents to think of Covid-19 regulations when visiting Beecraigs Country Park

West Lothian Council warns residents not to flock to Beecraigs Country Park.

The council posted on social media at the weekend asking people to stay away from the area after the car parks were deemed to be over capacity.

They sent out a reminder that the public is supposed to be adhering to the Scottish Government’s restrictions on travel and social distancing.

Speaking to The Courier this week the council asked people to protect themselves and others.

They don’t want to discourage people from using the parks in the county during lockdown but say that motorists should remember parking is limited.

A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: “We would strongly encourage people to stick to the rules and guidance that is in place.

“The guidance is there to protect individuals and the NHS.

“We have never had to limit the actual number of visitors to the Parks but have continually been encouraging visitors to follow Government guidance, particularly with regards to travel advice, and advice around social distancing and meeting other people.

“Parking is limited at the park due to the ground conditions at this time, so if people can walk, cycle or use another non-motorised means of transport to visit our parks, then they should as parking is limited.”
