West Lothian Council promise help is there for residents after lockdown was extended.
Nicola Sturgeon announced on January 19 that schools would stay closed, and lockdown would be extended, until at least the middle of next month.
But the council want individuals and families to know they are offering support alongside partners in the “voluntary sector and other bodies.”
Speaking to The Courier, the leader of West Lothian Council, Lawrence Fitzpatrick said: “I think most of us were expecting the inevitable extension to lockdown restrictions this week.
“The advice from health experts is that a continued lockdown remains essential to protect the NHS and helping stop the spread of the virus.
“Thanks to everyone who has been sticking to the rules and playing their part in helping reduce our infection rates which are below the national average in West Lothian.
“My thoughts are for all the individuals and families who are struggling at this time in some way.
“A wide range of help and support is available from the council, voluntary sector and other bodies so I would encourage anyone who needs it to seek appropriate help.”
The First Minister said lockdown would stay in place in West Lothian and the rest of mainland Scotland for another month, and her next review will take place on February 2.
Ms Sturgeon added: “Any relaxation of lockdown while case numbers remain high, even though they might be declining, could quickly send the situation into reverse.
“We believe that the lockdown restrictions - and the sacrifices everyone continues to make - are beginning to have an impact. However, it is important to be cautious.
“I continue to be very grateful to people across the country for their patience and resilience in the face of this extraordinary challenge.
“At the moment, lockdown is the best way of keeping each other safe, as vaccination continues. It is how we can protect ourselves and our loved ones.”
