West Lothian comedian Fern Brady refuses invite to do advert for 'sexist' Brewdog

Scottish TV comic Fern Brady has shared that she has refused to partake in an advert for Brewdog, tweeting that she is 'not gonna be the one to rehab their image as sexists.'

The West Lothian star, who co-presents the BBC 's Wheel of Misfortune podcast, joked in a follow-up tweet yesterday that "I'm getting my bathroom done up and all but don't want my new shower to make me feel dirtier than when I got in.

"Which it would if I done the ad."

Craft beer giant BrewDog recently issued an apology to staff after being accused of creating a culture of "fear" by more than 100 ex-employees.

An open letter from Punks with Purpose read: “By placing personalities at the centre of your messaging, you have inflated egos and fostered a culture within craft beer that deifies founders, and gives weight to sexist and misogynistic brewers who claim to be standing up for free speech. You have become a lightning rod for some of the worst attitudes present on both the internet, and in real life".

Fern Brady revealed in a third tweet that the beer company had asked her to remove her initial tweets, writing: "They want me to delete this tweet so just want to say Brewdog are actually real good nice punk guys and they gave me some beer once when I was thirsty at a Women's March."
