The new East of Scotland season gets underway on Saturday with three West Lothian teams competing in the Premier League.
And there’s a tasty derby match first up as Blackburn United host Linlithgow Rose at the Purdie Worldwide Community Stadium (2.30pm kick-off).
The two sides are likely to be battling it out at opposite ends of the table this term.
United booked their place in the top flight thanks to a remarkable finish to last season and have kept the core of the squad together, although the lost last season’s top scorer Darren Downie to Musselburgh Athletic.
Andy McQuillan, whose 182 goals are the most in the club’s history, is the highlight of the new arrivals.
The Rose will be targeting promotion to the Lowland League and have made a string of impressive signings over the summer.
Striker Ross Allum arrives from East Stirling and could team up with Tommy Coyne for the league’s best attacking partnership while veteran defender Pat Scullion boasts a wealth of experience in the SPFL.
Both sides also have midweek contests with Blackburn travelling to Camelon on Tuesday night and Linlithgow welcoming Sauchie to Prestonfield the following day.
Broxburn Athletic will still be wondering quite how they managed to lose out on promotion last season and there has been little in the way of ins and outs at Albyn Park with no significant moves being made either way.
They host Bo’ness United in their season opener on Saturday in a crucial early test against one of the favourites for the title before an away clash at Crossgates Primrose on Wednesday evening.
