West Lothian bus service cut for third time after more vandalism on local routes

A bus service in West Lothian has been pulled in the evenings for a third time due to attacks by thoughtless vandals in the area.

The X25 service, which typically runs through Blackridge, Livingston and Edinburgh, will terminate at Blackridge Railway Station after dark after vandals once again targeted the service, the Daily Record reports.

A First Scotland East spokesperson said: “Due to vandalism, the X25 service will start/end at Blackridge Rail Station after 4pm for the rest of the week.

“We suffered another two broken windows at Blackridge on Monday night and are therefore staying out of the village for the rest of the week.

“We’re in regular contact with the police about the situation.”

This is the third time since March 2021 where a bus on a local route in West Lothian has been suspended due to mindless vandalism.

Earlier on in October, it was reported that reducing the service had proved as a "last resort" to protect the firm's staff and passengers, as members of the public were urged to contact the authorities should they spot any anti-social behaviour directed at the buses.

Just weeks later, however, the idiotic vandals hit back and threw stones at the buses, smashing various windows in the process.

West Lothian police officers posted on their Facebook page: “It goes without saying that this is incredibly dangerous for drivers, passengers and risks a serious accident.”
