Bus passengers are being warned to expect cancellations and disruption to services as more and more drivers have to isolate due to covid.
First Bus East said it’s doing everything it can to keep services running, but many have been cancelled recently due to a lack of drivers.
The company is advising passengers to check online and on social media or call a helpline for updates before they travel.
A First Bus spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we’re experiencing some disruption to our services as a result of an increase in the volume of our drivers having to self-isolate in line with covid procedures.
“We’re doing absolutely everything possible to make sure that we’re running as many journeys as we can for our customers in very challenging circumstances.
“We’re keeping our customer service channels continually up to date with any short notice cancellations so that passengers can be kept fully informed.
“We therefore advise customers to check our website and Twitter feeds regularly, or call our customer service team on 0345 646 0707 for the very latest service information.”
Last month we reported that the number 27 linking Livingston South Railway Station with Craigshill, Dedridge, Ladywell and the hospital would be suspended until further notice due to staffing issues.
West Lothian Council said it would be working with the bus operator to keep disruption to a minimum and urged passengers to visit www.traveline.info/ for help to plan their journey.
