West Lothian boys attacked 'at random' by adults as they played football in local park

Thugs left two teenage boys hospitalised in a shocking unprovoked attack as the youngsters played football in a West Lothian park.

A 16-year-old suffered a serious head injury as friends looked on in horror during the assault at around 6pm on Saturday, April 24.

His 15-year-old friend also sustained a minor head injury following the attack at Howden Park in Livingston after also being targeted at random, according to investigators.

The pair received treatment at St John's hospital and have since been released, but police are now keen to trace a group of men they believe to have been involved in the stramash.

Officers say they are interested in speaking to one of the men in particular, describing him as being around 23 years of age, with a slim build and short dark hair.

He is said to be around 5'10 and was wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts and sunglasses at the time of the incident.

Detective Constable Lynn Myles, of Livingston CID, encouraged anyone with information on the attack to come forward.

DC Myles added: “This appears to be an unprovoked attack on two teenage boys who were in the park enjoying the good weather and playing football.

“There were a lot of people on the park at the time and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened. If you can help please contact us on 101, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting incident 3309 of Saturday, 24 April, 2021.”
