West Lothian bowling club raises cash to help pal diagnosed with MND

Mid Calder Bowling Club have been raising money in aid of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) charities.

They held a charity day in support of Stevie Morris who is unfortunately suffering from this crippling disease, raising £4000 for this worthy cause.

Phil Harvey, one of the organisers said: “Steve is a lovely man and has the support of everybody who has had the pleasure of knowing him.”

MND is an uncommon condition that affects the brain and nerves and causes weakness that gets worse over time.

Professor Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with MND in his 20s and survived almost 40 years.

In June 2017, rugby player Doddie Weir announced he had the condition to coincide with global MND Awareness Day and later set up a foundation named My Name’s Doddie in order to raise funds for research into a cure for MND and to provide grants to people living with the condition and raise awareness.
