West Lothian basketball star earns place on Junior NBA training camp in Italy

A talented young basketball star from Livingston has been selected to compete in a prestigious training camp in Italy featuring some of the best young talent in Europe.

James Young High School pupil Jenni Torrance, who plays for the West Lothian Wolves at under-16, under-18 and senior level, will take part in the Junior NBA Europe event in Bologna this week as Scotland’s sole female representative.

The four-day event aims to provide players with the opportunity to develop their skills in a fun and positive environment whilst learning the values of the Junior NBA – teamwork, respect and integrity – all under the watchful eyes of former NBA champion Boris Diaw.

The camp features 60 players aged 13 and 14 with the top 10 boys and top 10 girls being selected to represent the region at the Junior NBA Global Championship in August.

Meanwhile, Jenni has also been selected for the Scottish national squad at under-16 level alongside three of her Wolves team-mates; Kirstin Clark, Lucy Lemmon and Rose Harvey as they prepare for the FIBA European Championships in July.

Callum Mortimer, also of the Wolves, has made the Scotland under-16 squad for the European Championships set to take place in Albania.
