Lothian Running Club’s Canada-based Sarah Inglis maintained her recent fine vein of form by recording a third win in as many weeks, writes Shane Fenton.
Inglis led home a field of 34 runners to take the Senior Women’s title at the British Columbia Cross Country Championship.
Sarah, who is teaching full-time as well as coaching students in Canada, was happy to sit in with the leading group before making her winning move on the last lap of the 8km course.
She crossed the finish line in a time of 27.13, which was 18 seconds clear of her nearest rival, Genevieve Lalonde, who represented Canada at the 2016 Olympic Games.
A delighted Sarah commented: “I am really happy with the race. I sat in with the girls and then pushed the last lap’’.
It’s been a good few weeks for Sarah as she broke her own course record to win the Royal Victoria 8k race a fortnight ago then followed that up last week by recording another personal best of 31.59 as she claimed victory in the Toronto Waterfront 10k.
That time moved her up the all-time Scottish rankings to fourth with only Liz and Eilish McColgan and Stef Twell ahead of her.
