West Lothian athlete breaks club record that stood for nearly two decades

Andrew McGill broke a 19-year Livingston Athletic Club record in the 800m at the Scottish Athletics 4J Studios National Open Series at the weekend.

Andrew was one of nine clubs athletes taking part in the second event of the series, held at Meadowmill.

His time of 1:56.99 broke the record previously held by Marc Johnston for nearly two decades by just 0.01 seconds.

Meanwhile, five other athletes secured new personal best times.

Moray Butler (14.34) in the 100m, Kirsten Morris (30.47) in the 200m and a trio of 800m runners - Logan Beagley (2:03.19), Elliot Frame (2:03.68) and Jonathan Marshall (2:05.25) all broke their previous records.

Also in action were Kirsten Bowie, Fraser Morris and Carly Smith with the athletes looking forward to returning later this month for the final of the three meeting series.
