West Lothian archer Nathan Macqueen out of Paralympic Games following defeats in both of his competitions

Addiewell archer Nathan Macqueen's Paralympic Games medal bid came to an end after he was eliminated in both the individual and mixed team events in Tokyo.

The 30-year-old was taking part in his second Paralympic Games having represented Team GB at Rio 2016 but struggled to produce his best performances in the blistering heat in Japan.

In Friday's individual compound ranking event, he shot a score of 680 to place 22nd. That saw him faced with a tricky last-32 tie the following day against Nail Gatin, which he lost 142-138.

On Sunday, Macqueen and team-mate Jess Stretton shot well but narrowly lost out 153-151 in the quarter-finals of the mixed team compound to Iran. They finished the competition in sixth place.

Following the loss Neil Armitage, CEO of British Archery commented: "Jess and Nathan shot really well in the mixed team event but came up against an Iranian team that were able to get the edge on our determined duo."
