West Lothian footballer Hayley Lauder played a pivotal role in helping Glasgow City claim their 14th consecutive league title as she grabbed a goal and an assist in a 2-0 victory over Rangers on the final day of the season.
City went into the clash at Broadwood knowing a point against the third-placed Gers would see them continue their incredible streak of national titles and the Scotland international made sure there was no doubt with a brilliant performance.
The 31-year-old opened the scoring on 13 minutes with a composed finish after racing on to a Priscilla Chinchilla pass before slotting beyond Megan Cunningham in the Rangers goal.
Just beyond the hour mark, the former Murieston United youth player whipped a wonderful free-kick into the box which has duly headed home by Niamh Farrelly.
From then on it was a case of seeing out the contest, which City were able to do comfortably as their period of dominance within the women’s game continued.
Speaking to the BBC after clinching the Scottish Women's Premier League One, Lauder said: “I’m just buzzing. We push each other every day from top to bottom.
“It’s been such a long season and I’m delighted that we’ve came out on top. We’re all winners, we’ve got that fire still.
“We were under pressure, people keep writing Glasgow City off, especially with Celtic and Rangers investing heavily but that’s why we’re a group of winners.”
