Covid-19 infections are back above the national average as West Lothian waits to hear if Nicola Sturgeon will move the county to Level Zero on Freedom Day.
The latest Public Health Scotland statistics show that as of June 16 there were 25 new cases recorded.
Across the week between June 8 and June 14 there were another 228 new cases of the coronavirus in the county.
This takes the weekly test positivity to 124.5 per 100,000 residents over the past seven days, above the national average of 122.9.
The threshold for Level Three is 150 per 100,000.
Whitburn, Croftmalloch and Greenrigg remains the most infectious place in the region, with 19 new cases among their 4673 residents in the past week.
Meanwhile, Boris Johnson pushed back England’s ‘Freedom Day’ to July 19 due to rising infections.
Nicola Sturgeon says she will make an announcement on areas in Scotland moving to Level Zero but it is expected West Lothian and most other regions in Scotland will not move down as originally intended.
June 28 was supposed to be the date but with rising infections that is unlikely.
The First Minister told MSPs this week that it was “reasonable to indicate now that I think it unlikely that any part of the country will move down a level”
Ms Sturgeon said: “Our next full review of the protection levels is scheduled for next week. This will consider whether any changes are possible from June 28 onwards – a date when we had hoped we would see the whole country move down to Level 0.
“I will confirm our decision to Parliament following the full review next week.
“However, given the current situation - and the need to get more people fully vaccinated before we ease up further - it is reasonable to indicate now that I think it unlikely that any part of the country will move down a level from June 28.
“Instead, it is likely that we will opt to maintain restrictions for a further three weeks from June 28 and use that time to vaccinate - with both doses - as many more people as possible.
“Doing that will give us the best chance, later in July, of getting back on track and restoring the much greater normality that we all crave.”
