West Ham youngster Reece Oxford warned about his future at the club by Manuel Pellegrini

Manuel Pellegrini has warned West Ham academy graduate Reece Oxford that he may not have a future at the club.

The 19-year-old has been tipped for a bright future in east London after impressing on his debut at Arsenal under Slaven Bilic in 2015.

However, having been handed a £20,000-a-week contract there have been questions raised over his attitude behind the scenes. Questions which will have been raised again following a recent interview with the Sunday Times in which he said he should be getting the same chances as fellow youngsters Declan Rice or Grady Diangana.

Having been shipped out on loan to Reading and Borussia Monchengladbach and now finding himself stuck in the U23 setup, Oxford has been warned his time may be up, with Pellegrini pointing out the depth he has in that position.

"A player who is 19 or 20 must be ready to play in the first team," said the Chilean. "If you don't have the space you must go to another club.

"We have in his position a player who I am happy with," Pellegrini added. "Angelo Ogbonna is also on the bench, but working very well every day. Issa Diop is playing well, and while Declan Rice doesn't play in that position, he can.

"So, we will see what happens with Reece, whether he stays here, or if it is better for him to go and play for another team."
