West Ham XI vs Lyon: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Europa League today

West Ham face Lyon in the Europa League this evening, with David Moyes making just the one change.

Alphonse Areola comes in as expected to replace Lukasz Fabianski in goal, as he has done in Europe so far this season.

The Hammers host Ligue 1 opposition in the first leg of their huge last-eight tie at London Stadium and would have been hoping to welcome Ben Johnson back into the starting XI, with the full-back having missed Sunday's win over Everton.

Johnson felt a small hamstring problem while away on international duty with England’s Under-21s last week and was left out of the Premier League matchday squad as a precaution.

Moyes was uncertain whether the 22-year-old would be ready to face Lyon, and he is fit enough only for a place in the bench.

Vladimir Coufal, who returned to the bench after a hernia operation on Sunday, is also among the substitutes. Manuel Lanzini has trained following his involvement in a car crash but is suspended for tonight’s game.

West Ham XI: Areola; Fredericks, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell; Soucek, Rice; Bowen, Benrahma, Fornals; Antonio

Subs: Fabianski, Randolph, Alese, Diop, Coufal, Masuaku, Johnson, Kral, Noble, Vlasic, Yarmolenko, Perkins

Date: Thursday April 7, 8pm BST

Venue: London Stadium

Referee: Felix Zwayer (GER)
