West Ham winger nears the exit door with the club set to take £13m loss

West Ham are open to offers for Ukrainian winger Andriy Yarmolenko and will be prepared to take up to a £13million hit on the £18m they paid for him in 2018.

According to Football Insider, Yarmolenko has been deemed surplus to requirements at the London Stadium after only starting one Premier League game this season.

Yarmolenko has a contract with the club until June 2022 with the club having an option to extend the deal but they are more likely to sell the Ukrainian than keep him past his original contract date.

The 31-year-old was signed from German giants Borussia Dortmund for a fee in the region of £18m, a price The Hammers are unlikely to be able to recoup, with reports they will settle for as little as £5-6m for his services.

Yarmolenko is among West Ham's highest earners and that is money The Hammers are keen to save, especially considering how little impact the winger has had recently.

The 31-year-old has been involved in 26 appearances this season, six cup starts, and 19 league substitute appearances along with his one league start.

He has filled in as stand-in striker for Michail Antonio at times this season but has not shown himself to be a long-term solution to this problem.

Recouping some of his transfer fee and using his wages to strengthen the squad looks a wise move. The winger spent almost a decade with Dynamo Kyiv before a short spell in the Bundesliga, and a return to Ukraine may be on the cards for the 92 capped international.

Yarmolenko is currently out injured with knee ligament problems suffered during West Ham's 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup and will not be fit for Monday's Premier League clash with Sheffield United.

He has scored three goals this season, all against League One opposition, twice in the League Cup against Hull City and once in the FA Cup at home to Doncaster Rovers.

With West Ham deciding against signing a replacement for Sebastien Haller in January Yarmolenko could see more game time as the season progresses before he is offloaded in the summer transfer window.
