West Ham winger Michail Antonio returns to training after injury lay-off

West Ham midfielder Michail Antonio has returned to training at Rush Green following surgery on his hamstring nearly a month ago.

The Hammers wideman picked up the injury just seven minutes into the 2-0 win over Newport County in the Carabao Cup in late August when chasing down a pass from Aaron Cresswell.

Antonio immediately pulled up and signalled he had to be replaced with the club subsequently having to wait 48 hours for the injury to flair down before he could have an MRI scan.

That scan revealed the 29-year-old has torn his hamstring and it needed surgery, which was deemed a success after it took place.

That seems to have rung true as the midfielder has returned to the gym at Rush Green and was captured on video by Hammers teammate Angelo Ogbonna, which you can see below.

The winger was one of the Hammers in-form payers at the beginning of the season, making a big impact off the bench in the draw against Brighton and the win over Watford before picking up his injury.

While Antonio has returned to training, it remains to be seen if he will be back in action in 2019 with the usual recovery time from a hamstring tear around three to four months.

The only injury doubt for the Hammers ahead of the fixture against Man Utd on Sunday is Manuel Lanzini, who has a "small problem" according to manager Manuel Pellegrini and will be assessed on Saturday.
