West Ham vs Liverpool
Premier League 2018-19
Venue: London Stadium
Date: Monday, February 4, 2019
Kick-off: 8pm GMT
West Ham host Liverpool at the London Stadium on Monday night with both teams in need of a statement result.
The Hammers have lost their past three games following a surprise 1-0 Premier League win over Arsenal on January 12 - a result which must feel a long time ago for Manuel Pellegrini.
The West Ham boss followed up Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Wolves by saying it was "impossible" for his side to play any worse than that, but League leaders Liverpool may test that statement on Monday.
While Jurgen Klopp's Reds extended their lead at the top to five points in midweek following Manchester City's shock loss at Newcastle, Liverpool may feel that their Anfield draw against Leicester City was an opportunity missed - and Klopp will want his players to prove their title credentials in east London following the rest of the weekend's action.
West Ham team news and predicted line-up
Pellegrini is still plagued by a lengthy injury list, with Marko Arnautovic unlikely to play after bruising a metatarsal at Wolves.
Lukasz Fabianski is a doubt with a sore arm, which could see Adrian start in goal. Samir Nasri, Lucas Perez and Aaron Cresswell will be assessed before the game.
Elsewhere, Adriy Yarmolenko (Achilles), Winston Reid (knee), Manuel lanzini (knee), Fabian Balbuena (knee) and Jack Wilshere (ankle) all remain sidelined.
West Ham XI: Adrian, Zabaleta, Diop, Ogbonna, Masuaku, Obiang, Rice, Anderson, Snodgrass, Antonio, Carroll
Liverpool team news and predicted line-up
Klopp has been boosted by a number of players returning. James Milner is available after serving his suspension, and will likely slot in at right-back after Jordan Henderson play there against Leicester.
Naby Keita once again failed to impress - as did Xherdan Shaqiri - which could see Fabinho come into the centre with Henderson.
Liverpool XI: Alisson, Milner, Van Dijk, Lovren, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Henderson, Mane, Firmino, Salah
Score prediction: West Ham 1-3 Liverpool
Given West Ham's injury problems, it is hard to look beyond a Liverpool win. If the Hammers try to stifle Klopp's side as they did with Arsenal, they could get some joy - but they will need to take their chances.
Liverpool struggled in front of a nervous Anfield crowd vs Leicester, but are likely to play with more freedom on the road. If they are on form, there is little West Ham can do to stop them - nut playing Andy Carroll against his former side could be exactly what they need if Arnautovic is still injured.
