That’s all from me today. I’ll leave you with Jacob Steinberg’s report from the London Stadium.
Be sure to join Xaymaca Awoyungbo now for minute-by-minute coverage of Brentford v Chelsea.
Following his Tottenham debut, Xavi Simons told Sky Sports: “I’m really happy with the win, and making my debut in the Premier League is such a special moment. It’s always been a dream of mine to play on the biggest stage in the best league in the world. I’m with a magnificent team.”
West Ham enjoyed a positive start to the game, but dropped off midway through the first half. They had their chances, but Tottenham continued on the front foot from there and deservedly went 1-0 up at the start of the second half.
From there, heads began to drop for the Hammers and things went from bad to worse.
Graham Potter still has a lot of work to do in East London.
Meanwhile, on James Maddison’s comment, Dave said:
“James Maddison’s (entirely unnecessary) comments sum up why referees get the abuse they do. Yes, they get things wrong some times but they are always basing their decisions on their interpretation of the rules, which they have to, and do, know inside out. If Maddison thinks you can push/shove another player out of the way legally he really shouldn’t be employed as a professional footballer.”
Regarding that decision to disallow Cristian Romero’s goal earlier in the game, Sam messaged in to say:
“I don’t know which was the worse decision. The disallowed goal, which Maddison called absolutely right, or the fact that Van de Ven was wrestled to the ground in plain sight and no penalty. Referee has been shocking.”
Full-time: West Ham 0-3 Tottenham
It’s all over at the London Stadium. A fantastic result for Tottenham. A night to forget for West Ham.
90+4 min: Porro steps up to take a corner and Kilman almost heads the ball into his own net, resulting in another corner. Nothing comes of the second set piece.
90+2 min: What a save! Porro sends a cross into the box and Kudus volleys the ball towards goal, forcing a brilliant stop from Hermansen. Johnson then follows it up and forces the goalkeeper into another fantastic save, although he is then flagged offside.
90+1 min: We’re into five minutes of added time.
89 min: Bowen desperately tries to make his way into the Tottenham box to create a chance, but the ball is taken from his feet by Vicario.
87 min: I don’t think it would be an exaggeration to say that the London Stadium now appears less than half full. Fans seem to have had enough – and we’re only on the fourth game of the Premier League season.
Updated
86 min: West Ham captain Bowen is back up and running for now as he looks to see the rest of the game through.
85 min: Bowen is down with what appears to be an achilles issue.
82 min: This is starting to feel a bit like watching a training game or pre-season friendly now. West Ham are lacking intensity and urgency, which must be welcome for the visitors.
79 min: It’s a triple change for Tottenham as Tel makes way for Wilson Odobert. Brennan Johnson is on for Bergvall, who is in contention for Player of the Match, and Kevin Danso replaces Van de Ven.
77 min: With a three-goal lead, Tottenham are quite happy to play keep-ball at the moment.
74 min: It’s clear to see that West Ham have lost any motivation they had left after that red card. The stadium would be silent if it wasn’t for the Spurs fans.
71 min: Thomas Frank makes his first two changes for Tottenham. Spence is replaced by Destiny Udogie, with Simons making way for Richarlison.
69 min: With over 20 minutes still left to play, West Ham fans are beginning to stream out of the stadium. Another disappointing day for the Hammers.
68 min: Another change for West Ham as Callum Wilson replaces Paquetá.
65 min: Bergvall receives the ball in the box following a good bit of play from Spurs on the right. The midfielder does very well to make his way past three West Ham players before squaring a pass across to Van de Ven in the box, who fires his effort into the corner of the target!

West Ham are down to 10 men and now have a huge mountain to climb.

53 min: Ward-Prowse steps up to take the free kick and delivers it into the box. Kilman storms in to get his head on it but fires his effort over.
52 min: Spence receives the first booking of the game for a foul on Bowen just outside the Tottenham penalty area.
49 min: West Ham look for an instant response as Bowen’s strike from around 10 yards out forces a save from Vicario, who tips the ball behind.
The goalkeeper then clears the following corner.
48 min: Simons takes the corner and sends it deep into the box. Sarr is left in plenty of space at the back post and heads it straight past Hermansen and into the net.
Terrible defending from the Hammers.
Spurs lead!

46 min: Just 16 seconds into the half, Bowen has a shot at goal from distance but drags his effort wide.
Kick-off: West Ham 0-0 Tottenham
We’re back under way at the London Stadium!
It would be fair to say that Tottenham midfielder James Maddison is furious about the decision to disallow Romero’s goal.
He wrote on social media: “Honestly the referees & VAR have had an absolute shocker of a start to the season. If that goal is disallowed for a foul you will never ever see a corner be taken without referee blowing for something ever again.”
The decision to rule out Cristian Romero’s goal has really split opinions.
Thoughts?

On the hostile reception for Mohammed Kudus, Joe Pearson messaged in to say:
“It’s interesting how supporters treat former players. Most get booed, a few get cheered. Take Liverpool for instance. Even after all these years and whatever shirt he’s wearing, Sterling always gets pelters. But I guarantee that when Brighton come to Anfield, one of the biggest cheers will be for James Milner. I guess it depends on the nature of one’s exit.”
Half-time: West Ham 0-0 Tottenham
It’s goalless at the break.
45+1 min: We’re into two minutes of added time.
44 min: Bowen has moved central now, with Paquetá shifting out onto the right.
43 min: Once again, Kudus is booed in possession and Diouf receives a huge ovation when he steals the ball and plays forward.
40 mins: Bowen sends a looping cross into the box from the right. It looks easy to deal with for Spurs, but Van de Ven waits until the very last second to flick it on to Vicario, almost catching him off guard. The goalkeeper is not happy with the centre-back in the slightest.
39 min: Tottenham have probably been the better team in the last 15 minutes or so, but West Ham have had their chances. Either team could snatch a goal before the break.
Updated
37 min: Porro sends a cross into the box and Sarr looks to go for goal but his effort deflects behind.
Nothing comes of the resulting corner.
34 min: Kudus sends a corner into the West Ham box and Diouf heads it behind amid a pile up of players at the back post.
33 min: A pass from Spence is cut out in midfield and a quick pass is played forward to Summerville, who sends the ball across to Ward-Prowse on the right. The midfielder desperately tries to get there in time but can’t quite keep it in play.
30 min: Bergvall receives an overlapping pass from Spence and plays the ball back to Simons in the box, who struggles at first to get it out of his feet.
The summer signing sends a pass back to Bergvall, who looks to cross into a dangerous area but his effort bounces behind for a goal kick.
26 min: Tel is back on his feet and is playing on for now, although he does look to be struggling when running.
25 min: Tel is down with what appears to be a knee injury and looks to be in some discomfort.
22 min: West Ham have a corner. Ward-Prowse plays it short and immediately receives the ball back before crossing it deep in the box to Souček at the back post. The midfielder looks to head it towards goal but Vicario can claim with ease.
19 min: Tottenham have the ball in the net… but it won’t count!
Van de Ven is deemed to have fouled Walker-Peters while a corner was being sent into the box. Romero’s headed effort is therefore ruled out.
Updated
18 min: Simons picks up the ball on the left, cuts inside and goes for goal. It looks to be heading wide, but Kilman gets his head to it anyway and deflects the shot behind for a corner.
16 min: This has been a positive start from West Ham. Tottenham haven’t had much of a look-in so far, with Hermansen yet to be tested.
14 min: Just as I say that, Paquetá has the best chance of the game so far! Walker-Peters plays a pass to Bowen on the right, who sends the ball to Paquetá in the box around 10 yards out from goal. The forward takes his shot on the turn and drills it narrowly wide of the right post!
Updated
12 min: We haven’t seen too many chances so far in this game, with both goalkeepers yet to be really tested.
9 min: Summerville gets the biggest cheer of the evening so far after blocking a cross from Kudus, who continues to receive a hostile reception from the home supporters.
7 min: Chance for West Ham as Diouf swings a cross in from the left. Bowen looks to head it towards goal but can’t quite get there and the ball flies just over him.
A positive start for the Hammers.
5 min: West Ham look to break forward as a long ball is sent over to Summerville on the left, but there’s a bit too much on it and Vicario can collect.
Updated
3 min: Boos echo around the stadium as Kudus receives possession on the right for Tottenham. They then turn into cheers when he runs the ball out of play.
1 min: Bowen looks to be starting on the right for West Ham, with Paquetá in a more central role.
Tottenham attempt to attack early with a long throw into the box, but the ball runs behind for a goal kick.

Speaking of Levy, take a look at this from David Squires…
“It will not only be fans of Tottenham looking on with interest when the architects of one of English football’s most astonishing acts of corporate brutality watch life after Daniel Levy begin with a game against rivals where most supporters are waiting for something similar to happen at their club…”
As I briefly mentioned earlier, West Ham have banned half-and-half scarves for today’s match. The move is among a number of increased security measures aimed at preventing away supporters from getting into the home sections at the London Stadium for a potentially volatile match.
A statement on the club website read: “West Ham United would like to make supporters aware that enhanced security measures will be in place for Saturday’s match against Tottenham Hotspur. This includes additional checks at turnstiles, restrictions on half-and-half scarves or items illustrating the colours/crests of both clubs and steps to ensure home areas remain for West Ham United fans only.
“We would like to kindly ask all supporters for patience when entering the stadium to allow our staff to perform these checks, especially during the busiest times in the 45 minutes ahead of kick-off.”
Today marks Tottenham’s first match since Daniel Levy’s sudden departure last week. Head coach Thomas Frank revealed yesterday that he held constructive talks with Spurs’ owners following the chairman’s exit and hopes that he will be given a say in the club’s long-term strategy.

West Ham go into the match off the back of their first win of the season, a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Meanwhile, Spurs’ last Premier League outing saw them lose 1-0 to Bournemouth at home.
This is bound to be a fiery one. Kick-off is at 5:30pm BST - join me!
