Sam Inkersole gives his rundown on the toughest opener Manuel Pellegrini's side could possibly have faced on the opening Saturday. The champions at London Stadium.
Win, lose or draw?
Lose. Man City are too good and stuck four past the Hammers in pre-season. West Ham's defence looked terrible at points in pre-season and if anyone can punish them, it'll be City. They also haven't lost on their three previous visits to London Stadium, either. That explains the 1/4 price with thepools.com
Who's a good bet for 1st scorer?
West Ham - Manuel Lanzini, he's scored three in his last three pre-season friendlies to hit some form. And 18/1 first scorer is a magnificent price with thepools.com. 11/2 anytime isn't too shabby either.

City - take your pick. Raheem Sterling could have a field day but then again so could any of their stars. Sterling is 7/2 to repeat his Wembley first scorer feat.
Who's on the naughty step? (first card)
One of the full backs for West Ham could be in for a torrid afternoon, so either Ryan Fredericks or Arthur Masuaku. If I had to plump for one, probably Fredericks up against Sterling.
Who's on pens?
Mark Noble (if he plays, he's currently an injury doubt with a dead leg). If it's not him, expect Manuel Lanzini or Sebastien Haller to take it but it's tough to know as it's always been Noble. Noble is 25/1 first scorer with thepools.com
Will your team keep a clean sheet?
No, absolutely not. West Ham shipped 12 goals in six pre-season friendlies and that tells you all you need to know. Lukasz Fabianski is an injury doubt too and him missing out is a scary thought. Both teams to score 'No' is a very tempting 4/5 with thepools.com
