West Ham United v Everton predictions as top pundits disagree on outcome

Everton are still in the race to land seventh place in the Premier League and whilst we don’t know what that will definitely mean right now, the Toffees want to finish the season as high as possible.

The big question is how will the fight for the seventh spot look at the end of the weekend?

Everton travel to West Ham United on Saturday for the teatime kick-off and the bad news comes thanks to the predictions of three prominent pundits.

Paul Merson is predicting Everton to be held to a 2-2 draw at West Ham, while Mark Lawrenson also has Marco Silva ’s men dropping points in the capital.

Everton boss Marco Silva explains what Blues want in a striker as transfer plans take shape

“You just don’t know what you’re going to get from West Ham. In fact, that applies to Everton too,” Merson told Sky Sports .

“I think Everton will be better away from the pressure of Goodison Park . I didn’t think they were going to come out for the second half of their last game against Chelsea, there was no point coming out.”

Lawrenson added in his BBC column : “Everton have been inconsistent too but I look at the way they played in the second half of their win over Chelsea before the international break and think they might be at the start of a little unbeaten run.”

Everton would still keep pace with Wolves despite the draw according to Merson and Lawrenson, who both don’t think Wolves will secure a win at Burnley.

Everton are already four points behind Wolves in the battle for seventh and a potential European place, but Michael Owen feels that the Toffees will drop further behind this weekend.

The former Liverpool star explained in his BetVictor blog that he believes West Ham will prevail.
