West Ham United starlet clarifies situation over Manchester United transfer after Bristol City trial

Kai Corbett has clarified the situation over his West Ham United future following trials at Manchester United and Bristol City.

The highly-rated attacker, who has netted almost 150 goals in the last three seasons at youth level for the Hammers, was a surprise trialist for the Robins' under-23s last month.

Yet when City decided against making a move for the player, he subsequently popped up on trial at Manchester United.

Despite scoring on his first appearance for the Red Devils' under-18s, Corbett is now back in the West Ham youth set-up.

It had been speculated that Corbett's youth contract at the Hammers makes him an expensive prospect for any side looking to sign him due to compensation rules.

Yet the youngster recently posted a note on Twitter, clearing up the situation and revealing he ultimately opted to stay at West Ham after a meeting with the club.

He said: "I had a very positive meeting with West Ham so I am delighted to say that I have chosen to stay at the club I've spent the last six years at.

"My goal is to play at the highest level of professional football so I'm sure people will understand that it's important to me that I'm given opportunities to progress.

"Although most don't know, I actually chose not to go to look at a number of other Premier League clubs as I felt, on reflection, that West Ham United will help develop my game and give me the chance to push and grow towards first-team football.

"I am looking forward to progressing with West Ham United and will work hard and perform well to earn my opportunities to keep climbing closer to my goal of playing in the Premier League."
