West Ham United show Marcelo Bielsa Leeds United are yet to learn this important lesson

Leeds United have suffered the ignominy of conceding yet another goal from an opposition corner, which makes it the sixth occasion this season in which Leeds have conceded in this manner.

West Ham United drew level midway through the first half of proceedings at Elland Road through the imposing Tomas Soucek.

The tall, Czech international towered over Stuart Dallas at the back post as Leeds failed to adequately defend against a rehearsed set-play.

Leeds' man-marking setup did not pay dividends as the 6ft 3in Soucek held off the challenge of Dallas who ultimately found himself underneath the Czech.

It epitomised an absorbing, effervescent contest in which the first 30 minutes were played at a break-neck speed. Both Leeds and West Ham hunted in packs, but it was West Ham who struck the second blow through Soucek's forehead, after Mateusz Klich's re-taken penalty opened the scoring.

West Ham could be a tough nut to crack

His header was planted firmly at Illan Meslier who struggled to prevent the attempt from crossing his goal-line as he scuttled across to make himself big.

Raphinha tried in vain to stop the ball going over the line but his clearance was no use as Michael Oliver's watch buzzed and confirmed Soucek's goal.

There was a palpable sense of danger at every set-play leading up to the goal, with Leeds outmuscled by the collective might of West Ham's tall, rugged squad.

After 35 minutes, West Ham had enjoyed seven attempts at Meslier's goal, three of which on target. The Hammers identified fairly early on that they could gallop forwards with the ball with ease, unlike many of their other contests so far this season. As a consequence, they earned a flurry of corners as shots and crosses ricocheted off Leeds defenders.

These blocks and diversions ultimately led to Leeds being pegged back in the first half, with Dallas unfortunately losing out to Soucek in the battle of the back post.
