West Ham United's stance on former Nottingham Forest loanee Sam Byram made clear

There looks to be no future at West Ham United for former Nottingham Forest loanee Sam Byram, with the Premier League club’s stance being made clear.

Byram has been a target for the Reds this summer, after impressing during a loan spell – though, in the meantime, there has been a managerial change at the City Ground as Sabri Lamouchi replaced Martin O’Neill at the helm.

And if it is an option they do still wish to pursue, they would seemingly face little resistance from the Hammers.

The full-back returned to pre-season training with his parent club earlier this month and travelled to Switzerland with his teammates for a 10-day training camp.

But he is one of three players to have been left out of a pre-season tour of China, along with striker Jordan Hugill and fellow defender Reece Oxford.

West Ham are taking a 23-man squad to the Premier League Asia Trophy tournament, which runs from July 14 to 21 – and Byram didn’t make the cut.

The right-back was linked with West Bromwich Albion earlier this summer, amid reports he and Hugill were offered to Forest’s Championship rivals as makeweights in a £10m bid for Salomon Rondon.

Byram is firmly down the pecking order for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, with Ryan Fredericks, Pablo Zabaleta and youngster Ben Johnson ahead of him.

The latter has been included in the party bound for China despite making his senior debut only last season.

Football London report: “Byram has been linked with a move to the Scottish Premier League but, like Hugill, hasn’t seen an offer for his services.”

The Reds have made six signings so far this summer, with Albert Adomah yesterday putting pen to paper to add to the arrivals of Sammy Ameobi, Tiago Silva, Alfa Semedo, Yuri Ribeiro and Arijanet Muric.

Byram made eight appearances in the Garibaldi last term, having seen his campaign disrupted by injury.
