West Ham United give David Moyes update after Everton new manager rumours

West Ham United first-team coach Stuart Pearce believes David Moyes has agreed in principle to sign a new contract.

Moyes returned to West Ham in 2019 and guided the Hammers to Europe in his first full season back in charge but has 12 months remaining on his current deal.

The 58-year-old has since been linked with the vacant position at Everton - his former home of 11 years - after the shock departure of Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid.

West Ham were said to be relaxed about Moyes' future and Pearce admitted talks have been positive between both parties.

He told TalkSPORT : "Well, he is certainly speaking with the club now.

"For all intents and purposes he has agreed and the club have agreed to extend his contract as such."

Pearce returned to the London Stadium as part of Moyes’ coaching team in August 2020 after initially claiming the board blocked attempts to recruit him the previous December.

Yet the ex-England international defender is also set to extend his stay in London.

He continued: "Until David signs his contract it follies me making any sort of movement of signing an agreement with the club.

"The club have made me an offer which I am very grateful for but I've not spoken with them in regard to agreeing a contract because my allegiance is with David. He was the one who brought me to the club."
