West Ham United forward moves on to sign permanent three-year Bolton Wanderers contract

Bolton Wanderers have signed forward Oladapo Afolayan on a permanent basis.

The 23-year-old moved to the University of Bolton Stadium on loan from Premier League side West Ham United in the January transfer window.

He went on to nail down a first choice starting place in Ian Evatt's side in the second half of the campaign, making a total of 21 appearances.

Afolayan played across the attack for Wanderers and scored his first goal for the club on the final day of the season in a 4-1 victory away to Crawley Town which confirmed Bolton's automatic promotion out of League Two.

And ahead of playing in League One next season, Wanderers have confirmed the permanent acquisition of Afolayan on a three-year deal.

Afolayan is out of contract at the London Stadium this summer and Bolton boss Ian Evatt made no secret of the fact he wanted to sign the player on a permanent basis following a successful loan spell which ended in promotion.

And Evatt is now targeting further progression up the divisions with Afolayan, who he describes as an 'asset' for the club.

The Bolton boss said: "Dapo has shown that he is a very talented young footballer.

”It’s my job to get assets on the football pitch for Bolton Wanderers and Dapo is certainly an asset.

“Hopefully we can take Dapo where he wants to go and vice versa with Dapo taking the club to where it should be.”
