West Ham United consider swoop for Swansea City star and Man Utd target Joe Rodon

West Ham United have reportedly on the trail of Swansea City and Wales star Joe Rodon.

According to The Guardian, Rodon is one of several players to have been recently looked at by the Hammers, with boss David Moyes keen to strengthen his defensive options before the close of the transfer window.

The Hammers have already made three failed bids for Burnley's James Tarkowski and have seemingly branched out in their potential options.

Rodon is believed to be one possibility, along with a loan move for Arsenal's Calum Chambers or Monaco's Dijibril Cisse.

Whether the Hammers will firm up their interest with a concrete approach remains to be seen, with Rodon likely to come with a hefty price tag that could leave the Hammers hierarchy hesitant to make a move.

Rodon has recently returned to first team action with Swansea after a spell out with injury, and has previously been linked with Manchester United and Manchester City.

It's understood that the Swans haven't received any approach for the defender at this stage.

For now, Steve Cooper says the Wales international needs to simply focus on getting games under his belt.

"For Joe’s progression, he needs a long spell in the team," he said. "It’s not like he’s an older player that needs managing.

"He’s been unlucky with injuries. If you talk to him he’ll tell you he feels stronger and fitter. He just needs a bit of luck."
