West Ham train in Shanghai with no reported injuries ahead of Newcastle friendly

West Ham have reported no injury concerns ahead of Saturday's Premier League Asia Trophy game against Newcastle United as they trained in Shanghai for the first time on Friday morning.

Manuel Pellegrini's men came through the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City in Nanjing on Wednesday unscathed as the manager used all ten of his available substitutions to get most of his players some minutes.

Only goalkeeper Roberto played the full 90 against City, while some players got an hour and others just 45 minutes as Pellegrini likes to average out the minutes he gives each player in pre-season.

The players trained at a small complex just outside of the Shanghai Stadium, not the Hongkou Stadium where they will be against Newcastle in a little more than 24 hours time.

All 23 players who made the trip trained this morning which was a normal session that focused on both fitness and ball work under the watchful eyes of Pellegrini and his coaching staff.

The humidity in Shanghai is nowhere near as intense as in Nanjing so the Hammers players can be put through their paces a bit harder than they were previously.

Compare that to Steve Bruce, the new Newcastle United manager, who apparently "beasted" his players at their training earlier today ahead of the match tomorrow.
