West Ham ‘told price tag’ to sign Filip Kostic amid Maxwel Cornet transfer links

West Ham United have reportedly been told the price tag needed to sign Eintracht Frankfurt winger Filip Kostic.

It has been reported that the Hammers had submitted a bid of around £12.5million to sign the Serbian international 29-year-old, although it has been claimed the German 2021/22 Europa League winning club were hoping to acquire £16m for the versatile winger.

While West Ham’s bid came up short of Frankfurt’s estimations, it has been stated the Hammers remain confident of signing the 48-time Serbia international, with David Moyes’ side reportedly making a second bid for Kostic nearer Frankfurt’s valuation as the club remain hopeful of signing him.

The report has come from The Sun who claim that West Ham’s first bid was rejected but the Hammers remain hopeful of signing Kostic, who has scored 33 times in 170 appearances for the German club. After coming up short with their first bid, the report claims the second bid will come between £12.5m and £16m.

With Frankfurt qualifying for the Champions League ahead of the upcoming campaign, it is stated the Hammers would need to offer a substantial salary package to drop from Europe’s elite club competition to the third-tier Europa Conference League.

The story comes just a day after the same outlet claimed that the Irons were keen on signing Burnley’s Maxwel Cornet in a deal worth £20m. However, with Kostic and Cornet playing in the same position, it is unlikely that the club would finance deals for both men.

Kostic’s agent is the same as that of Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca, who the Irons signed from Sassuolo for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £30.5m earlier this week.
