West Ham to sell fringe players to fund summer squad revamp

West Ham are prepared to offload a number of fringe players this summer to raise extra funds for new signings.

The Hammers are expected to listen to offers for Lucas Perez, Pedro Obiang, Reece Oxford, Sam Byram and Jordan Hugill as Manuel Pellegrini plots a revamp of his squad.

There are also doubts over the future of Javier Hernandez, who had interest from Valencia in January and has failed to hold down a regular place in the team this season.

Andy Carroll is expected to leave at the end of the season when his contract expires and goalkeeper Adrian is also out of contract this summer.

The departures of several squad players would boost the transfer budget and also significantly reduce the wage bill at the London Stadium.

Pellegrini wants to strengthen his forward options this summer, and his frontline will have a different look next season should Hernandez, Carroll and Perez all leave.

West Ham’s squad will be boosted next season by having Andriy Yarmolenko, Manuel Lanzini, Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere fit for the start of the campaign. The quartet have been missing for large parts of this season because of injury.

Yarmolenko has been out since last October because of an Achilles injury but the Ukraine international is expected to be fit for the beginning of pre-season training.

Wilshere has recovered from his latest ankle injury and Pellegrini will hope the former Arsenal midfielder can stay injury-free next season.
