West Ham to play Newport County in Carabao Cup second round

West Ham United have been drawn to play League Two side Newport County away in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

The Welsh side came through a penalty shootout against Gilligham to make it to the second round of the competition.

The second round draw saw a number of Premier League clubs enter, including West Ham.

The Hammers will see the tie as somewhat of a banana skin with the the Exiles carving themselves a reputation as giant killers after knocking Leicester City and Middlesbrough out of the FA Cup last season, and taking Tottenham to a replay in the same competition the season before.

The game will see Manuel Pellegrini's men travel across the border to Rodney Parade with the aim of making it to the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The fixture will take place on the week commencing 26th August in between the Premier League games that will see West Ham travel to Watford and host newly promoted Norwich City.
