David Moyes is continuing his summer clear out at West Ham, with the sale of striker Jordan Hugill set to be confirmed on Monday.
The Hammers have accepted an offer for Hugill from relegated Norwich, who will pay around £3million up front, with add-ons taking the deal up to around £5m.
West Ham accepted early on in the window that they would receive a reduced fee for Hugill, who signed from Preston in a deal worth up to £10m during Moyes' first spell as manager.
The sale frees up vital space and funds for Moyes to add the targets he desperately needs to move the club forward ahead of the new season, with Brighton's Shane Duffy - who played briefly under the Scot at Everton - a target the east Londoners are confident of landing.
West Ham remain keen on QPR's Eberechi Eze, though the Championship side are holding out for up to £20m for the forward and Moyes has conceded that spending may have to be tight at the London Stadium this year as he focuses instead on getting the best out of what he has got.
"We’re going to try and improve the players we have," Moyes, whose side returned from their pre-season trip to Scotland on Sunday, told the official club website.
"I’ve always been more interested in the players we’ve got than the ones who are at other clubs, so I think the improvements we made from the restart after lockdown were good.
"We’ve got some bright young players and some players who are improving, so if we can add to it, great, but as I’ve reiterated a few times, the owners spent a lot of money over a year ago, and I’m sure we don’t have that amount of money available to spend again."
