David Moyes will know there is much work ahead for his West Ham side after succumbing to a 5-3 thrashing by Bournemouth at the London Stadium.

The Scot fielded a strong line-up in their final match before the start of the new Premier League season on September 12, with captain Mark Noble included despite his criticism of the club's decision to sell Grady Diangana.

But it was The Cherries who opened the scoring after just four minutes with Netherlands international Arnaud Danjuma skipping past two defenders before slotting beyond goalkeeper David Martin.

The Championship outfit, managed by Eddie Howe's former assistant Jason Tindall, then doubled their lead through Dominic Solanke with only a quarter of an hour gone.

The Hammers recovered from their sloppy start with Jarrod Bowen netting a quick-fire double just before the half-time whistle.

But early pressure after the interval paid off for Bournemouth as Dan Gosling rifled home into the top corner from 20 yards after an incisive counter-attack.

Adam Smith added a fourth with a low strike into the corner, although Martin would have been disappointed not to have kept it out.

But he could do nothing to stop a stunning strike from substitute Jaidon Anthony, who wrapped up victory with a curling strike into the top corner.

Felipe Anderson got one back for West Ham, heading home from a corner, but the damage had been done long before for Moyes' side and defensive reinforcements could well be needed ahead of the new league campaign.
