West Ham striker Jordan Hugill extends QPR loan until end of season

Jordan Hugill has agreed to extend his loan spell at Queens Park Rangers until the end of the season, parent club West Ham have confirmed.

The striker, signed by David Moyes from Preston during his first spell as manager in east London, had scored 13 goals in all competitions for Mark Warburton's side before the season was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Hammers, who yesterday confirmed midfielder Tomas Soucek's loan had been extended to the end of the delayed campaign, are still in discussions with Pablo Zabaleta and Carlos Sanchez, both out of contract this summer, over similar arrangements.

Hugill could be facing his parent club this afternoon when QPR visit the London Stadium for a behind closed doors friendly. Clubs have been given the green light to step up preparations with such games, so long as no opponent has to travel more than 90 minutes and all players arrive separately in their own cars. It is the first of two friendlies for Moyes and his players, with Crystal Palace visiting east London on Saturday.

The news is a boost for Rangers, who have been operating with Hugill as their only recognised senior striker since Nakhi Wells was recalled from his loan spell from Burnley in January before being immediately sold to Bristol City.
